MCMCS Family PTO presents Trunk or Treat
Tuesday 10/31/17, 3:30-5:30pm @ MCMCS
So what exactly is a Trunk or Treat?
It’s an organized event where people gather their vehicles for the purpose of handing out goodies (healthy treats, candy, pencils, or novelties) from their decorated trunks. It’s sort of like a tailgating party, only you dress up and hand out treats instead of burgers. You can bring a car, SUV, truck, or van! It’s very entertaining for both children and adults.
Everyone is welcome to wear a costume!
Making it fun and kid-friendly:
Since our trunk-or-treaters are the students of MCMCS and their families, which are mainly kids 5-11, avoid crafting really gory, scary, or frightening scenes. Also, please be mindful of loud decorations and please make sure everything is age appropriate.
The best-dressed vehicles will win a prize!
It’s a competition: so go all out when you decorate your vehicles.
Each class will decorate as a team a minimum of 2 vehicles (2 is ideal for a class of 25 students and 3 vehicles for a class of 36). Please sign up to volunteer! You can help pick your classroom’s themes, donate decorations and goodies to handout. FYI – Oriental Trading is a good place to purchase décor, candy or goodies to handout.
If more families or any teachers/administration wish to oparticipate with their vehicle, please contact Rachel (email@example.com)or Ms. Mari (firstname.lastname@example.org) so we can make sure we can accommodate you, as space is limited.
Set a scene:
Some of the best trunk-or-treat themes go beyond decorating the car and handing out goodies. They set a stage.
There are plenty of trunk decorating ideas that don’t involve the traditional ghouls and goblins—and in fact, these can be much more fun and get everyone involved! Consider a Disney-themed trunk, a jungle safari, a gone fishin’ theme or any of the following:
– Christmas in October – Hawaiian luau
– Under the sea – On a farm
– Western – Pumpkin patch
– Camping – Pirates
– Circus – Mummy car
– Spiderweb car – Emoji
– Superheroes – Football (or other sports)
– Dr. Seuss – Children’s books, like Harry Potter
– Specific professional or college sports teams
– Cartoon characters, like Minions or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
– Video games, like Pac-Man or Minecraft
– Popular movies, like Cars, Frozen, or Star Wars
We hope you will all participate and help make this a really fun event for our entire school family!
